As spring sports head into the stretch, it is important to note the successes of all teams competing during this time of the year. Track and Field, Softball, Baseball, and Golf have all had noteworthy seasons that deserve recognition.

Track and Field has had several individuals perform at a high level. Most recently, the team accomplished nine different All-Time School Performances on April 19th at the Georgia Tech Invite. They look forward to sending several Spartans to the NCAA Championships later in the season.

The Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams have had great seasons as well. Rylie Kosney of the Women’s Team earned All-Big South Conference Honorable Mention, while Freshman Jackson Stone has taken home Big South Freshman of the Week Honors multiple times.

The Spartan Baseball Team is currently sitting at second place in the Big South Conference, while knocking off several Power 4 schools during the span of the season. Several players have received weekly conference honors. Freshman pitcher Max Kaplan also won Pitcher of the Week for D1 at the start of the season. They look to end conference play on a high note and punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

Softball sees themselves in a similar position as last season. They sit among the top in the conference and have been on a hot streak as of late. Pitchers Maddie Drerup, Sierra Maness, and Sophia Kardatzke have put up great ERAs, which the offense has continued to rake. They will travel to Presbyterian College at the beginning of May to compete in the Big South Conference Tournament, with a win securing them in the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.

Director of Athletics, Matt Martin speaks about the spring success when he said, “It’s been a great spring semester for our teams. Both our baseball and softball teams are in a battle for first place and have put themselves in a great position to compete for a Big South Championship this May, which is all we can ask for. Our men’s and women’s track programs are coming off their best finishes ever at Big South Indoor Championships, so we’re excited to see them continue to push the envelope in their upcoming outdoor championships. And our men’s and women’s golf teams have had great spring seasons as well. Our teams have worked incredibly hard to put themselves in a position to have success, and we are certainly proud of their achievements thus far!”
