Fighting with my family is full of heart and soul. The film is based on the true story of Saraya Jade Bevis, better known to wrestling fans around the world as Paige, and her rise to the WWE. The film is not so much about professional wrestling, but about being true to oneself, chasing your dreams, and how that affects the relationships of those closest to you.
It's the relationship between Saraya and her older brother, and trainer, Zak Bevis that takes center stage in the film. When both are given a tryout with the WWE, they can imagine their lives together in the big times. When Zak fails to make the NXT roster, it takes a toll on both him and his younger sister.
The film focuses on Paige's time in Orlando at the WWE training facility and Zak's life back in England. Despite being a step closer to her dreams of WWE Diva's Champion, Paige is isolated and alone without the support of her family. While Zak, who feels as if his dreams have come to an end, is surrounded by his family and wrestling students but is pushing everyone away.
The film stars Florence Pugh, Jack Lowndes, Lena Heady, and Nick Frost, with a cameo or two from Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, Paul "The Big Show" Wight, and Stephan "Sheamus" Farrelly.
This film is for anyone, wrestling fan or not, who has ever had a dream and felt as if they couldn't pursue it. Fighting with my family is an inspirational tale of never giving up, even when the whole world (or your trainer) is telling you to, and it feels like you are all alone in the fight. It's about fighting for what you want and never backing down. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and it will make you feel as if anything is possible if you press on.
