With just four days until election day, students across the country are getting ready to vote on Nov. 5. For many students at USC Upstate, this will be their first presidential election.
To understand who students were going to be voting for this election, The Carolinian polled a total of twenty students at Upstate.
Answers were slightly varied, with a total of seventeen students for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Two students declined to answer, and one said they would be voting Republican.
Among the people voting Democrat were students who were part of a minority or knew others in marginalized groups. These students also tended to be more open to sharing their Presidential candidate of choice.
When the subject was brought up, many students were passionate about voting, encouraging others to submit their ballot.
“I’m going to vote for my candidate of choice, but everyone should go out and vote,” Krischan Taylor, a junior Theatre major said.
Students from out-of-state can opt to mail in their ballot. For South Carolina residents, that's also an option, as is early voting, which will continue through Nov. 2.
For those living in South Carolina, you can access your sample ballot on scvotes.org.
