Resident Evil 9: Requiem is a recent game in the Resident Evil franchise,
released in February 2026. Introducing a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, a tech
analyst for the FBI who is being targeted for unknown reasons by our antagonist,
Victor Gideon. This game also brings back a favorite protagonist of the Resident
Evil franchise, Leon S. Kennedy, who is returning to the city that is a big source of
his story and trauma, Raccoon City. Both of our protagonists work together as they
go on a harrowing journey to take down new and old foes, as they uncover truths
from the past.
Review: As someone who has played all the games of the Resident Evil
franchise, this game was refreshing. Grace’s reactions and emotions to the horrors
around her, plus her already lived trauma, I found to be well written. Leon’s
exhaustion from his long years of already dealing with this, plus his guilt of feeling
like he has failed a lot of people, and that he has to make it up to those people. It
feels like Capcom has outdone itself with the game mechanics of being able to
switch between camera perspectives depending on the protagonist you are playing,
or on what you prefer. The gameplay was exhilarating with the heart-stopping
horror and the invigorating action that we got to play. There were also
heartbreaking moments as well that will have you tearing up as well. Additionally,
it will have you remembering your other gameplay in the Resident Evil franchise
with flashbacks and references to the other games. This game has it all.
So it is highly recommended that you get this game. But it will be better if
you play the other games before this one, especially Resident Evil 2. This game
and all the others are on all the gaming platforms
