An exciting event will be taking place near USC Upstate on Thursday, April 17th at 7:00pm at the Chapman Cultural Center in Downtown Spartanburg. The address of the Chapman Cultural Center is 200 E. St. John St. Spartanburg, SC.  

With a history of renowned speakers, 2025 is no different. A columnist for The New York Times, Maureen Dowd will be the Keynote Speaker. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1999 for her coverage of the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky Scandal.  

While the Keynote Address will begin at 7:00pm, the event will begin at 5:00pm with a VIP Reception. A General Reception will be held from 5:45pm-6:45pm, with again, the Keynote Address taking place from 7:00pm-8:15pm. 

Tickets for the General Public cost $25 each, but USC Upstate will be able to attend the event for free. Those wishing to purchase tickets can do so on the Chapman Cultural Center website.   

This event is a great way for students to hear from a professional in the communications field and hear about the insights from an award winner.  

The Director of Development in the University’s Office of Advancement, Scott Stephens, says, “The Edmunds Lecture Series consistently brings some of the most compelling authors and speakers to the Upstate community. This year, the Chancellor, faculty, staff, and students of USC Upstate are honored to have Pulitzer Prize-winning Journalist Maureen Dowd providing a thought-provoking conversation about today’s political climate and her latest book, Notorious.” 

Capitalize on this historic event and hear Ms. Dowd’s thoughts about today’s politics and listen as she discusses her new book.
