The Health Education Complex will be temporarily closed for the summer beginning on Sunday, May 10, 2026. During this time, the HEC will be closed, including the Rec Center, where students go to work out and play recreational sports.
The HEC is an important building here at USC Upstate. It includes the Rec Center, where many students come to work out and play sports as well as the campus bookstore, which will still be open virtually, but closed for walk ins. T
he Esports team also frequently practices at the HEC, so they will be finding somewhere else to practice temporarily over the Summer.
The HEC also serves as the class location for many health classes. However, nursing major Aubrey Mills says this will not affect her as “the lower-level nursing lab will remain open for Summer classes.”
The HEC is expected to be back up and running starting August 1.
