Most athletes retire after they are out of eligibility. They might move away or work a typical 9-5, but not Easton Cullison. Instead of leaving, he chose to stay and grow the Upstate Baseball Program and has reaped the rewards.

A local kid from Upstate, SC and Byrnes High School, Cullison was a star in all four seasons with the Spartans. He is the program’s leading “Base Stealer” and had historic seasons continuously.

A career average of .281, Collusion finished his career with 53 RBIs, 116 hits, and 52 stolen bases, making that number a program record.

After his eligibility ended in 2024, Cullison returned to first year Head Coach Kane Sweeney’s staff as a student assistant while he finished his Physical Education Degree. Easton served as the first base coach, among other roles during the 2024-2025 season. His work helped contribute to the program’s first Big South Championship and the NCAA Regional Bid.

When talking about this promotion, Cullison says, “I’m excited to get to help continue growing what we have been building here over the last couple years. Seeing the growth from my first year here, to now my sixth, is incredible and a testament to all those who have been involved. I know that the best is yet to come and I’m excited to be a part of the journey.”

This offseason, Sweeney has promoted Cullison as an Assistant Coach, working with fielders and baserunning. The team looks to continue its success with an updated coaching staff as they prepare for their fall season and beyond.

The non-conference and conference baseball schedule will be released shortly in the new year.
